Our Camping Tradition
Camp Burgess is an overnight camp that offers one and two-week sessions for boys ages 7 to 16. Founded in 1928, Burgess is located on beautiful Spectacle Pond, Cape Cod, across from our sister Camp Hayward, which started in 1961. Our brother-sister structure allows Burgess campers to benefit from an all-boy environment while also experiencing safe and positive opportunities for co-ed social interaction.
The Burgess Experience
Camp Burgess is a place for boys to have an amazing summer experience. Campers will gain independence, build community and foster strong friendships with kids from across the country and beyond.
There is so much to do at Burgess. With their fellow cabin mates, campers will explore our massive property, go on great adventures, challenge themselves on ropes courses and climbing towers, learn outdoor living skills, build things with their hands and play an endless array of games on our courts and fields and fresh water ponds. There is something for everyone at Burgess. Come feel the spirit and positive energy that makes Burgess a one of a kind overnight camp.
We employ amazing staff from across the country and the world. Many of them are former campers, who have participated in our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) and Junior Counselor (JC) programs. They often speak of “giving back” to a place that has helped them develop into strong leaders.
With two counselors in each cabin of eight, a strict background and criminal history check are diligently performed on all applicants in the US as well as home countries for international staff. Our staff also participate in an 8 – 14 day training program that includes safety and emergency procedures, policies, traditions and fun! Our Burgess Staff is always extremely patient, creative, fun and passionate about working with kids.
